Summary

Explore parts of Southeast Asia that few Westerners have seen. From Chiang Mai, Thailand we travel through unspoiled scenery to the Golden Triangle. Here, at the confluence of the mighty Mekong and Ruak Rivers, the borders of Laos, Burma and Thailand meet. In spite of the remoteness of the area, we stay in five-star accommodations and travel is made easy with our privately chartered riverboat. Witness the languid pace, a gracious people and stunning landscapes of Laos. Witness the timeless life styles of the hill tribes, and follow the Mekong as countless kings, pilgrims and peasants have to the Buddhist shrine at the Pak Ou Caves. See the remnants of sophisticated ancient civilizations at archaeological sites, and the ornate temples and shrines that are places of worship today. Experience the grand temples and colorful markets of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Conclude in lovely Vientiane, and join an optional extension to Angkor Wat, Cambodia. The sites visited and the activities planned put you in touch with the local cultures. The purpose is to engage you as a participant, rather than merely a spectator, on this fascinating journey.
