Summary
We begin the program in Cocoyoc, a two-hour drive from Mexico City. Cocoyoc is a town that traces its roots to the 11th century. From here we explore the historical sites of 16th-century convent in Tepoztlán and Ozxtepec’s and Tlayacapan’s monasteries. Continue to Tequesquitengo, from which we discover the archaeological ruins of Xochicalco. We also spend a day in the delightful city of Taxco, known worldwide for its silver mining history, twisting cobblestone streets and whitewashed houses. Enjoy a city tour that includes stops in artisan shops and a specially arranged visit to our professor’s school. We conclude our historic hacienda visits in vibrant Cuernevaca, the bustling capital of Morelos, before continuing to the cosmopolitan Mexico City where we tour the Dolores Olmedo Museum with exhibits of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo.
