Jane Murphy

A graduate of the Program in the History of Science within the Department of History at Princeton University, Professor Murphy's research focuses on European and Islamic scientific activities in the sixteenth through nineteenth centuries, with particular interest in the intersection of scientific practices and ideologies in imperial expansion. An interest in figures on the margins of empires led to her designing a Princeton Freshman Writing Seminar on the topic of Pirates. She joined the history faculty at Colorado College during the 2007-2008 academic year.
